Patrons will have to pay more to enjoy the 100th edition of the boys segment of champs
when the Issa's boys and girls championships get under on March 24.
CVM sports has been reliably informed that there will be a massive increase in ticket prices for the March
24 to 27, boys and girls championships at the national stadium. According to our source
the premier tickets for the main area among the three categories of VIP in the grand stand,
will cost 4,500 dollars, 2,500 more than last year.
As for the bleachers the increase will only be minimal. Quizzed about the new prices,
Issa's president Dr. Walton Small said the final
figures will not be determined until after an executive meeting on January 27.
Dr. Small also revealed that they might be unable to recoup the money spent on the book entitled,
"Champs 100- a century of Jamaican high school athletics 1910 -2010". Despite this
Dr. Small indicated it's worth it. The book which will be launched in mid-march will
chronicle more than just stellar performances. Meanwhile, national hero Norman Manley
and Olympian Vilma Charlton will be two of the 15 athletes awarded for outstanding
contribution to champs, at Issa's awards ceremony on February 5.
Of the 15, there will be 10 males and 5 female athletes of the decade. 61 awards will also be given to
administrators and officials with over 18 and 25 years of service respectively.
