Nesta Carter of Jamaica celebrates after winning the men's 100 metres at the international athletics meeting of Lucerne in Nottwil, Switzerland
Nesta Carter assumed the position as the third fastest Jamaican, when he ran a smart 9.86 seconds to win the men's 100-metre dash in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Carter, who has run sparingly this season because of injury, beat American Walter Dix, who was timed in 9.88 seconds.
American JMee Samuels was third in 10.03 seconds.
Carter becomes only the third Jamaican to run faster than 9.90 seconds after Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt, and pushes Yohan Blake (9.95) to fourth all-time on the list.
The time was also among the fastest in the world this year. Only Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt, each with 9.82, and Tyson Gay's 9.84, have been faster.
