Former Convent of Mercy (Alpha High School) athlete Claudia Calder was the best Jamaican performer at yesterday's second day of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at the North Carolina A&T State University, as she captured the gold medal in the women's heptathlon.
Competing for Hampton University, Calder amassed 4,904 points for the win. Her best effort was recorded in the high jump and the 800 metres where she won with a leap of 1.73 metres and a time of 2:18.27, respectively.
