« on: February 05, 2010, 03:32:40 PM »
Assistant head coach of MVP Track and Field Club Paul Francis is still in hospital following a motor vehicle accident last night on Highway 2000 near Spanish Town.

MVP president Bruce James says following the accident Francis was admitted at the Spanish Town hospital where he had surgery this morning.

Paul is the brother of world renowned Stephen Francis, who is head coach of MVP, the home of former world 100-metre record holder Asafa Powell.

The club is also home of Olympic and World champions Shelly-Ann Fraser and Melaine Walker, along with World Champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton and Olympic and World 200-metre silver medallist Shericka Williams.

Bad news

Paul  Francis has had his right leg amputated just over three weeks after sustaining injuries in a car accident
The Observer has confirmed that Francis, the younger brother of MVP head coach Stephen Francis, underwent the surgery to remove the leg (below the knee) last Saturday at the St Joseph Hospital in East Kingston.
